What is a cattery? In felinology, the word "nursery" is understood as a community of pedigreed cats and cats for breeding and improving the quality of the breed. The purpose of breeding is the production of offspring of strong health, a positive temperament, an exterior corresponding to the current breed standard. Breeding is a serious and time-consuming task, requiring the breeder, in addition to the love of his pupils, knowledge of the breed standard and its characteristics. VIVAT COON * UA cattery is registered in the WCF felinology system and is located in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The owner of the cattery is a member of the FPK "Regina" in Kharkiv. Tribal work in the nursery is conducted in accordance with the standards of WCF. The main goal is to get large, healthy kittens - worthy representatives of the breed. 

Maine coon is an aboriginal breed of North America, it is often called the national breed. The name of this magnificent breed of massive cats comes from two words: "men" - from the state of Maine, which is located in the northeastern United States, where these cats were very common, and "kun" - derived from the word "rekun" (from English). racoon - "raccoon"). The second part of the name (which was added to their name already in the 20th century) is due to the frequent striped coat coloration. One of the legends about the origin of Maine Coons is connected with this. Some believe that the first Maine Coons appeared as a result of crossing a European cat and a wild raccoon, from which they inherited striped color, lush wool and perfectly developed hunting instincts. Naturally, such crossing is impossible, because raccoons and cats belong to different types of predatory mammals, however the legend has survived to the present day. According to another opinion, maine coons could have arisen from crossing a feral cat and an American trot, which is also unlikely.

1. Body

From large to very large, muscular, long and wide, creates the impression of rectangularity. Neck of medium length with strong musculature; wide chest. Paws strong, medium length; pads paws with tufts of wool between the toes. The tail should at least reach the shoulder, broad at the base and tapering to the tip, with long flowing hair.

2. Head

Large massive skull, squared outwardly and with straight contours; cheekbones high, nose of medium length; The "box" is massive and square, with a noticeable transition to the forehead. The massive chin is flush with the upper jaw and nose. Curved profile.

Maine Coons are beautiful large cats, very hardy, with highly developed muscles. These animals are quite massive; the weight of adult cats is usually about 6 - 12 kg. Cats are more graceful, their average weight is 4 - 9 kg. There are cases when an adult Maine Coon reached a weight of 18 kg! Despite such impressive size, cats of this breed are proportionally built and extremely dexterous and graceful. This combination of strength and a very gentle and affectionate character inevitably attracts attention.
